Friedrich Karl Georg Fedde

Friedrich Karl Georg Fedde (born June 30, 1873 in Breslau , † March 14, 1942 in Berlin-Dahlem ) was a Silesian , German botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Fedde ".

Live and act

Fedde was a professor in Berlin. From 1911 to 1942 he was the founder and editor of the Repertorium specierum novarum regni vegetabilis (Berlin), which after his death was renamed Fedde's Repertorium in his honor , as well as the supplements during the same period . For the work Das Pflanzenreich by Adolf Engler he edited Papaveraceae-Hypecoideae et Papaveraceae-Papaveroideae (1909) and for the 2nd edition 1936 for volume 17b Papaveraceae .

Friedrich Fedde died in Berlin in 1942 at the age of 68. His grave is in the Dahlem forest cemetery .

Dedication names

After Friedrich Fedde, the plant genus Feddea became Urb. from the sunflower family (Asteraceae) and the poppy hybrid Papaver × feddeanum K. Wein .
