Chorten of the thirty generals of King Gesar of Ling and Tana Temple
The chortens of the thirty generals of King Gesar von Ling and the Tana Monastery ( Chinese 格萨尔 三 十大 将军 灵塔 和 达 那 寺 , Pinyin Gésà'ěr sānshí dà jiāngjūn Líng tǎ hé Dánā sì ) are located in the district of Nangqên (Chin . Nangqian ) of the Yushu Autonomous District of the Tibetans in northwest China's Qinghai Province .
The Tana Monastery (Tana Gompa; English Tana Monastery) is located at an altitude of 3800 m in Dana Shan (达 gilt 山) and is considered the family temple of King Gesar . The thirty chortens (stupa) in its vicinity are said to be over 1,000 years old , according to experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences .
The Tana Monastery belonged to the Yelpa Kagyü ( Tib . : yel pa bka 'brgyud ) school of Tibetan Buddhism .
The structures have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-805) since 2006 .
