The Dematic group of companies is a leading global provider of integrated automation technology, software and services for optimizing the supply chain . The portfolio includes individual products and turnkey complete solutions such as storage systems , conveyor systems and sorting systems or systems for manual and automatic order picking . Dematic employs more than 6,000 people worldwide and operates development centers and production facilities in the USA, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Australia and China. Dematic has implemented more than 4,500 systems for small, medium and large companies from various industries.
The headquarters of the Dematic group of companies is located in Atlanta ( Georgia / USA); the headquarters of the Central Europe sales region is located in Heusenstamm , Germany.
Since November 2016, Dematic has been a member of the KION Group - one of the world's leading providers of forklifts and warehouse technology, related services and supply chain solutions. The group is the largest manufacturer of industrial trucks in Europe , number two worldwide and also a leading supplier of automation technology.
Business areas
As one of the leading companies in its field, the range covers the food and luxury goods, general trade, wholesale, processing industry, food trade / food service, clothing and textile, direct sales, parcel service providers and outsourced logistics ( third party logistics ) sectors . In addition to individual products, such as storage and order picking, storage and retrieval systems , automated small parts warehouse , Multishuttle systems or light and Schwergutförderer integrated form logistics systems focus. Dematic develops customized intralogistics solutions that increase the efficiency of processes through a high degree of automation. The company also offers software and IT solutions (also based on SAP standard software) for warehouse management systems , for paperless picking ( pick-by-voice , pick-by-light , RFID ) or for material flow applications. There are also service concepts as well as the technical operation of systems and their maintenance.

history
The company can look back on a long tradition: It began in 1819 in Wetter (Ruhr) with the establishment of the Mechanische Werkstätten Harkort & Co. , which merged with other companies to form Deutsche Maschinenbau-Aktiengesellschaft (Demag) in 1910 , which in turn was taken over by Mannesmann in 1973 has been. Mannesmann DEMAG Fördertechnik AG was formed after the US company Rapistan was acquired . In 1993 the Australian company Colby was added, and in 1997 it was renamed Mannesmann Dematic AG . Four years later, Siemens took over the company and merged it with its own logistics activities to form Siemens Dematic AG , which was later renamed Siemens Logistics and Assembly Systems (L&A). In 2006, Siemens spun off the industrial and distribution logistics division as Dematic GmbH & Co. KG . In the same year, the private equity investor Triton took over the majority. The Dematic GmbH & Co. KG was October 1, 2007 with its general partner, Dematic participation Verwaltungs GmbH , to Dematic GmbH merged.
On September 15, 2010 Dematic took over the US logistics provider HK Systems based in Wisconsin , USA. With the additional production facilities, Dematic is able to produce not only conveyor and sorting technology, but also storage and retrieval machines and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in the USA.
On December 28, 2012, Triton completed the sale of Dematic to AEA Investors LP and Teachers 'Private Capital, the private investment division of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.
In January 2015 Dematic acquired SDI Group Europe , a specialist provider of conveying and sorting solutions for hanging and flat goods as well as returns processing.
In May 2015 Dematic GmbH moved its headquarters to Heusenstamm and now conducts business in Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Poland, Eastern Europe, Russia and CIS countries, the Middle East and Africa) from here.
In December 2015 Dematic acquired Reddwerks Corporation , a warehouse management software provider.
In March 2016 Dematic acquired the Australian company NDC Automation , a provider of automated guided vehicles and software in Australia.
In June 2016 Dematic was sold to the German mechanical engineering group Kion Group .
In September 2016, the Imagination Center Heusenstamm was presented to the public.
On March 13, 2017, Dematic announced the integration of Egemin Automation, creating the world's largest supplier of automated guided vehicles.
Dematic has been a sales partner of Autostore, Norway, since December 2018, making it one of the logistics system provider's two global partners currently.
