Chad Allan (musician)

Chad Allan (born March 29, 1943 in Winnipeg , Manitoba , actually Allan Peter Stanley Kowbel ) is a Canadian rock musician (vocals and guitar), who was best known as a member of the band The Guess Who .

Life

In the late 1950s, Chad Allan adopted his stage name and founded the rock 'n' roll band "Chad Allan & the Silvertones". The group changed names several times and was named successively "Chad Allan & the Reflections" and "Chad Allan & the Expressions". The final line-up consisted of Allan, Randy Bachman (guitar), Jim Kale (bass), Garry Peterson (drums) and Bob Ashley (piano).

In 1965 they released their first album Shakin 'All Over on the Canadian label Quality Records . As a band name, the company printed "Chad Allan and the Expressions - Guess Who" (dt. Guess who? ) On the plates. The single that was released only read "Guess Who?" - the name caught on, The Guess Who became one of the most successful Canadian bands.

Allan recorded another album, Hey Ho , with the group , then returned to his education and went to university. In 1971 he became a member of Randy Bachman's band, who had also left The Guess Who. From this band, "Brave Belt", Bachman-Turner Overdrive later emerged .

Allan recorded two albums with Brave Belt before turning to his own projects. In 1973 he brought out a first solo album. Allan has been teaching songwriting since 1982.
