Chahdortt Djavann (* 1967 in Iran ) is a French writer with Iranian-Azerbaijani roots.

Life

Djavann comes from a very wealthy family. She grew up in Tehran . Together with her family, she fled to Paris via Istanbul in 1993 without speaking a word of French.

When she began studying anthropology, she began to study the French language intensively and was later able to publish all of her works in this language. Djavann completed her studies with a Diplôme d'études approfondies (DEA); in her dissertation she dealt with the works of Emil Cioran , Eugène Ionesco and Samuel Beckett , among others .

As a freelancer, she wrote regularly for newspapers such as Le Figaro , Le Journal du Dimanche , Liberation and Le Monde .
