Chai Jing

Chai Jing ( Chinese  柴静 , Pinyin Chái Jìng ; born January 1, 1976 in Linfen , Shanxi ) is a Chinese filmmaker and journalist. She worked as a presenter for the Chinese state television CCTV . There she was responsible for, among other things, critical reports on the SARS outbreak and the 2008 Sichuan earthquake .

Her film Under the Dome (dt. Under the bell ), which they financed with their own money, describes the effects of air pollution on the residents of Chinese cities. Chai chose the topic because her own daughter is suffering severely from the health effects of the smog .
