Chalkyitsik is a settlement ( census-designated place ) in the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area in the US state of Alaska .
According to the 2000 census, it had a population of 83 in an area of 23.5 km². It is located on the north bank of the Black River in the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge between the Yukon and Porcupine River , about 70 km northeast of Fort Yukon .
