Chambers Street (Manhattan)
The Chambers Street is a street in downtown Manhattan in New York City , USA .
Location and course
Chambers Street runs from River Terrace ( Battery Park City ) in the west, past PS 234 (Independence School) and Stuyvesant High School to the Manhattan Municipal Building (address: 1 Center Street ) in the east. In the early 20th century, the street ran even further - through the archway of the Manhattan Municipal Building.
Between Broadway and Center Street, Chambers Street forms the northern boundary for Lower Manhattan , the area around New York City Hall and the Tweed Courthouse (across from New York Surrogate's Court ). Marble Palace ( 280 Broadway ) is west of this and north of Chambers Street.

Namesake
Chambers Street was named after John Chambers , a lawyer and judge and parishioner of Trinity Church .
