At 2,790 meters, the Champaquí is the highest mountain in the Sierra de los Comechingones and at the same time the highest peak in the entire Sierras de Córdoba in the Argentine province of Córdoba . The valleys that border the mountain are the Valle de Traslasierra on the west and the Valle de Calamuchita on the east .

The mountain rises moderately strongly on the west flank, while the foothills on the east side are very gentle. There is a small lake near the summit that is frozen from late April to early August. It is believed that the lake is the namesake for the mountain, as it means "water in the head" or "water at the top of the hill" in the language of the Comechingones .
