Chanabad ( Pashto / Dari :خان آباد, DMG Ḫān Ābād ) is a city in the Afghan province of Kunduz with, according to official information, around 35,000 inhabitants and the capital of the district of the same name.
Chanabad is primarily a traditional bazaar city with underdeveloped infrastructure. Thanks to the wide agricultural catchment area and its surplus production, the city has one of the largest grain markets in Afghanistan.

Chanabad is located in northeastern Afghanistan , about 270 km north of Kabul , 25 km west of Kunduz at an altitude of 496 m .
history
From 1888 to 1937, Chanabad was the largest and leading city of the Qataghan. The relocation of the provincial administration to Baglan because of the malaria risk at the time meant a significant loss of function.
