Chanticleer Island is an approximately 1.5 km long and almost ice-free island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located off the northwest end of Hoseason Island .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the island in 1960 after the HMS Chanticleer with which Henry Foster operated on January 7, 1829 in the waters around the island.
