The Chaos Foundation House was an orphanage in Vienna , which was brought to life by a foundation of Johann Konrad Richthausen von Chaos . The two-storey main building on Kärntner Strasse (today's No. 30) was built in 1664 by Carlo Canevale as part of the Citizens Hospital Complex Association. But there was also a branch in the suburb of Laimgrube in today's 7th district, which in the course of time expanded to the Spittelberg . Thanks to another generous donation from court official Franz von Griebner, the engineering school was established here in 1736 , from which the National Defense Academy later developed in the monastery barracks . The stately (through) house on Kärntner Strasse was demolished in 1873 as part of the urban redevelopment of the Wilhelminian era.

The Stiftgasse in the 7th district construction recalls since 1894 to the Chaossche Foundation.
