Chappal Waddi ("death mountain"), on the border between the Nigerian state of Taraba and the Cameroonian province of Adamaoua , is the highest mountain in the Mambilla plateau and the West African state of Nigeria at 2,419  m .

The mountain lies on the southern edge of the Nigerian Gashaka-Gumti National Park and belongs to the Gashaka Forest Reserve on the Nigerian side . Its peak rises about 33 km north-northwest of the village of Banjo (Cameroon) and 44 km (both as the crow flies ) southeast of the village of Gashaka (Nigeria) in the national park .
