Chara (singer)
Chara ( Japanese ち ゃ ら ; born January 13, 1968 in Kawaguchi , Saitama Prefecture ), actually Miwa Satō ( 佐藤 美 和 , Satō Miwa ), née Miwa Watabiki ( 綿 引 美 和 , Watabiki Miwa ), is a Japanese singer and actress .
Life
Her primary school teacher called her Chara . She then used this name as her stage name.
In September 1991 she released her first single Heaven . She has been very productive and has released many singles and several albums. In addition, at the age of 20 she received an award for her self-made songs.
While shooting her first feature film, Shunji Iwais Picnic , she met Tadanobu Asano (civil: Tadanobu Satō) know. Before the film premiered on February 16, 1996, the two married in 1995 and had a daughter that same year. In 1996 she got her second acting role as Glico in another Iwais film, Yentown - Swallowtail Butterfly . For Picnic and Yentown - Swallowtail Butterfly , she won an award for Best Young Actress at the Yokohama Film Festival in 1996 . For Yentown - Swallowtail Butterfly she was also nominated for the Japanese Academy Award in the category Best Actress , but had to admit defeat to Tamiyo Kusakari ( Shall we dance? ). In 1999 their second child, a son, was born.
