Charlemagne: The Omens of Death is a concept album by actor and singer Christopher Lee , which will be released as a sequel to his debut album Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross . It's about Charlemagne (Engl. Charlemagne ), the first Roman emperor of the Middle Ages. The music was u. a. Arranged by Richie Faulkner , guitarist for the metal band Judas Priest .
With the first single, Let legend mark me as the King , Lee signaled his reorientation towards pure heavy metal on his 90th birthday (May 27, 2012) , after his previous releases were still strongly symphonic . This makes him the oldest artist in the history of the genre.
For promotional purposes, a music video for the song The Bloody Verdict of Verden from the previous album was released in June 2012 , which is, however, to be assigned to symphonic metal and thus differs from the music style of the new album.
