Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross is a concept album by actor and singer Christopher Lee from 2010. It is about the religious wars of Charlemagne with special reference to the blood judgment of Verden . It is Lee's first own album, having previously worked as a guest musician for the bands Rhapsody of Fire and Manowar, among others . He describes the genre as symphonic metal .

The Metal Hammer Golden God Awards 2010, the album was Spirit of Metal - Award excellent, the Lee at the associated ceremony of Black Sabbath founder Tony Iommi was passed. The concept album included two metal bands, a 100-man orchestra and several guest musicians who sing the various roles in the story. The music was composed by Marco Sabiu. A music video for the song The Bloody Verdict of Verden was released in June 2012.

A follow-up album was released in May 2013 under the title Charlemagne: The Omens of Death . A musical based on the concept album is also being planned.
