Richie Faulkner

Richard Ian Faulkner (born January 1, 1980 in London ) is a British guitarist and songwriter who has been a member of the British heavy metal band Judas Priest since 2011 .

biography

Childhood and youth

After convincing his parents that his piano lessons were too boring for him, Richie Faulkner got his first electric guitar at the age of nine . Inspired by Jimi Hendrix , he began to play his songs and had his first appearances in London pubs at the age of 13 .

Musical career

Richie Faulkner first played with Dirty Deeds and Voodoo Six before joining the band of Lauren Harris - the daughter of Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris - in 2005 . This was followed by live performances at festivals as well as in the opening act for bands such as Iron Maiden and Within Temptation . In 2008 the album Calm Before the Storm was released.

On April 20, 2011, the British heavy metal band Judas Priest announced that their longtime guitarist KK Downing had left the band. At the same time, Richie Faulkner was presented as his successor.

Faulkner made his first appearance with Judas Priest on May 25, 2011, when the band played the songs Living After Midnight and Breaking the Law on the US TV show American Idol .

On June 7, 2011 the Epitaph World Tour began , Faulkner's first tour with Judas Priest. From the final concert of the tour, which took place on May 26, 2012 in London, a DVD entitled Epitaph was released.

Judas Priest's first studio album with Richie Faulkner was released in July 2014 under the title Redeemer of Souls . Faulkner wrote and arranged all the songs on the album together with Glenn Tipton and Rob Halford .

Trivia

In addition to Jimi Hendrix, Richie Faulkner counts the bands UFO , Black Sabbath , Iron Maiden , Pantera and Metallica among his musical influences.

Richie Faulkner was also involved in other bands (Ace Mafia, Parramon) and projects. He arranged the music for the heavy metal album Charlemagne: The Omens of Death by Christopher Lee , which was released on May 27, 2013.
