Laimutis Adomaitis (born September 7, 1986 ) is a Lithuanian wrestler . He won one at the 2005 European Championships bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the middleweight division .

Career

Laimutis Adomaitis began wrestling as a teenager in 1997. He specialized in the Greco-Roman style. The stocky athlete grew from lightweight to welterweight to middleweight in the course of his career . He is a member of the LOSC Vilnius sports club . His coaches were or are Wladimit Audickas, Ruslan Wartanow and Grigori Kasovski. He studied sports and is supported by the Lithuanian army. He is also well known in Germany because he has been fighting for clubs in the German Bundesliga for several years. From the 2013/14 season he will be on the mat for AC Lichtenfels .

Laimutis Adomaitis began his international career as a junior. In 2002 he took 14th place at the European Junior Championships (Cadets) in Odessa in the weight class up to 69 kg. Just one year later, in 2003, he won his first medal at an international championship. He came in the Junior European Championships (Cadets) in Odessa behind Akaki Lochadze from Georgia on the 2nd place. As a junior, he was also used by the seniors in 2004. He came here at an Olympic qualifying tournament in Tashkent in welterweight on the 12th place. At the European Championships in Haparanda he lost a. a. also against Max Schwindt from Germany and reached the 23rd place.

At the age of nineteen Laimutis Adomaitis surprised the international wrestling world when he won a bronze medal at the European Middleweight Championships in Varna. On the way to this success he defeated three world class wrestlers with Melonin Noumonvi from France, Alim Selimow from Belarus and Neven Zugaj from Croatia. In the following years he was unable to build on this success. But it was mostly renowned wrestlers who threw him out of the race at the World and European Championships. Examples are Alexei Mischin from Russia, Hassan Saman Tahmasebi from Iran, Cenk İldem from Turkey, Zoltán Fodor from Hungary and Jan Fischer from Germany.

In 2012 he reached the European Middleweight Championship in Belgrade with a 5th place once again an outstanding placement. However, he never qualified for the Olympic Games. He is also a multiple Lithuanian champion.
