Jan Belenyuk
Dschan Vensanowytsch Belenjuk ( Ukrainian Жан Венса́нович Беленю́к ; born January 24, 1991 in Kiev ) is a Ukrainian wrestler . He became European champion in 2014 , world champion in 2015 and 2016 Olympic silver medalist in the Greco-Roman style in the weight class up to 85 kg body weight.
After Beleniuk was placed 10th on the list by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj of his party Sluha narodu for the parliamentary elections in Ukraine on July 21, 2019, he became a member of the Verkhovna Rada after a successful election .
Career
Dschan Belenjuk is the son of a Ukrainian and a Rwandan . He started wrestling as a teenager in 2000. He prefers the Greco-Roman style and belongs to the Sparta Kiev sports club . He was or is mainly trained by Witali Kisilisa and Alexei Dobrowolski. At a height of 1.75 meters, he wrestles as an adult in the middleweight division . He is also well known in Germany's wrestling circles because he has competed in the German Bundesliga since 2012 for SV Germania 04 Weingarten , for AC Lichtenfels and for AC Luckenwalde .
He was already very successful as a junior and won a total of five medals in this age group at international championships. He made his first start at the Junior European Championship (Cadets) 2007 in Warsaw, where he finished 2nd in the weight class up to 76 kg behind Dimitri Potapow from Russia. In 2011 he became middleweight European junior champion in Zrenjanin, defeating Ramsin Azizsir from Germany in the final. At the Junior World Championships of the same year in Bucharest he lost after winning four fights only in the final against Rewazi Nadareishvili from Georgia.
In 2012 he was used by the Ukrainian Wrestling Association for the first time in the seniors at an international championship. That was at the European Championships in Belgrade in March this year. There he lost his first fight against Damian Janikowski from Poland, but won a bronze medal in the following consolation round with victories over Jim Eric Pettersson from Sweden, the 2008 Olympic champion Andrea Minguzzi from Italy and Laimutis Adomaitis from Lithuania . In the Ukrainian elimination for the starting place at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he failed because of the experienced Wassyl Ratschyba .
In 2013 he was used again at the European Championships. In Tbilisi he first won over Aleksander Kazakewitsch from Lithuania and Eerik Aps from Estonia, but then lost to Nenad Žugaj from Croatia. Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and came in 8th place. At the 2013 World Championships, Vasyl Ratschyba was again at the start for Ukraine. In July 2013, Dschan Belenjuk won a bronze medal at the Universiade in Kazan behind the 2012 Olympic champion Alan Chugajew , Russia and Maxim Manukjan from Armenia.
At the European Championship in April 2014 in Vantaa / Finland, Dschan Belenjuk celebrated his first title win at an international championship. In Vantaa he defeated Amer Hrustanovic , Austria, Laimutis Adomaitis, the experienced Olympic champion, multiple world and European champion Alexei Mischin from Russia and Rami Hietaniemi from Finland. At the 2014 World Cup in Tashkent, he secured a bronze medal with victories over Rami Hietaniemi, Pablo Enrique Shorey Hernandez, Cuba, Ahmed Ibrahim, Egypt and Ramsin Azizsir , Germany, in a semi-final defeat against Saman Tahmasebi , Azerbaijan .
2015 turned out to be the most successful year in his wrestling career for Jan Belenjuk. In June 2015 he lost at the 1st European Games in Baku in the final after victories over Dejan Franjkovic, Serbia, Attila Tamas, Romania, Metehan Basar, Turkey and Maxim Manukjan, Armenia in the final against Dawit Chakwetadze from Russia, at the World Cup this In Las Vegas he became the first middleweight world champion with victories over Alfonso Levya, Mexico, Ramsin Azizsir, Wiktor Lörincz , Hungary, Damian Janikowski, Poland, Saman Tahmasebi and Rustam Assakalow , Uzbekistan. In October 2015 he also won the title at the World Military Games in Mungyeong / South Korea in front of Damian Janikowski, Laimutis Adomaitis and Alexei Mischin.
In 2016, Jan Belenjuk again won the European title in the weight class up to 85 kg in Riga. In the final he defeated it Robert Kobliaschwili from Georgia. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he won over Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahim Saad from Egypt, Nikolai Bajrakow from Bulgaria and Jawid Gamsatow, but lost in the final against Dawit Chakwetadze from Russia, who was in overform that day.
