Jöri Kindschi (born October 8, 1986 in Davos ) is a Swiss cross-country skier .

Career

At the 2004 Junior World Championships in Stryn , Norway , Kindschi finished 44th in the freestyle race over ten kilometers and 47th in the sprint. A year later at the Junior World Championships in Rovaniemi , Finland , he came 26th in sprint and 65th in free technique over ten kilometers. In his last junior title fights in 2006 in Kranj , Slovenia , he achieved a top ten place for the first time with sixth place in the sprint, while he was 44th over ten kilometers, this time in the classic technique.

Kindschi ran his first World Cup race in November 2006 in Kuusamo , which he finished in 66th place in the sprint. He got his first World Cup points in December 2008 in Davos with the 28th place in the sprint. At the Winter Universiade 2009 in Yabuli , China , he was twelfth in the sprint and 38th in the mass start race over ten kilometers. With the Swiss student selection, he was eleventh in the relay competition. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 , he reached 38th place in the sprint and 16th place in the team sprint. In December 2011 in Düsseldorf he achieved a top ten placement in the World Cup for the first time with ninth place in the sprint. At the sprint in Québec in December 2012, he achieved his best World Cup result so far with sixth place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he finished 15th in the team sprint. He finished the 2012/13 season in 65th place in the overall ranking and 29th in the sprint ranking. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he took 22nd place in the sprint. In February 2017 he won the Gommerlauf over 42 km freestyle.
