Charles-Louis Philippe
Charles-Louis Philippe (born August 4, 1874 in Cérilly (Allier) , † December 21, 1909 in Paris ) was a French writer and poet .
Life
As the son of a clog maker from the Bourbonnais , Charles-Louis Philippe came from a simple family background. After his wish to join the Army was not fulfilled due to his poor health, he found a job in the Paris city council. He wrote about the world of poor and common people in Paris at the turn of the 20th century. André Gide recognized his talent and encouraged him in his writing.
