Charles Amer

Charles Amer (born September 16, 1911 in Grangetown , † February 23, 2012 in Marton , Middlesbrough ) was a British entrepreneur (Boro) and football club president of Middlesbrough FC .

Amer left school at 15 and initially worked as an office boy, at 16 he joined the army.

During the Second World War he performed locally with the band Charles Amer Orchestra, which he founded . From the 1940s he entered the real estate business and opened several hotels.

Amer had been a board member of Middlesbrough FC since 1963 and became its president in 1973. In 1982 he resigned from this post due to financial problems at the club.
