Charles Beattie

Charles Beattie ( 1899 - March 10, 1958 ) was a British politician, farmer and auctioneer. He was a member of the Ulster Unionist Party in Northern Ireland .

Beattie ran a farm and around 1944 became an auctioneer of properties that he published in the daily newspapers before the respective auctions. He was a member of the Northern Irish Unionists. From 1951 he also served in the Ulster Farmers' Association and became a member of the Tyrone Agriculture Committee . Beattie also became an active member of the Orange Order . Among other things, he was treasurer of the order in his district.

Beattie was a member of the House of Commons for Mid Ulster from 1955 to 1956. There was a lawsuit about him after the election because he held several paid public offices at the same time. Beattie was a member of the Northern Ireland National Insurance Tribunal and National Assistance Tribunal . A committee of the House of Commons recommended that Beattie's election be invalidated. This recommendation was accepted on February 7, 1956.

Charles Beattie had a son and two daughters with his wife Eileen.
