Charles Boom
Charles Boom (also Karel Boom, born April 3, 1858 in Hoogstraten ; † February 13, 1939 in Antwerp ) was a Belgian genre painter , draftsman , watercolorist and art teacher .
Charles Boom studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten van Antwerpen with Edward Dujardin , Lucas Victor Schaefels and Charles Verlat .
After completing his studies, he worked as a freelance genre and history painter and portraitist in Antwerp. From 1885 to 1924 he held the post of professor at the Amsterdam Academy.
He helped Charles Verlat with his coalition war battle pictures of Waterloo and Russia.
Charles Boom was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Belgian Order of the Leopold .
