Charles Parker Clary (born March 24, 1873 in Charleston , Illinois , † March 24, 1931 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor of the silent film era who appeared in more than 200 films between 1910 and 1930.

Life

Charley Clary began his career as a stage actor. As such, he toured the United States with theater groups before visiting the Selig Polyscope Company in 1910 as part of a performance in Los Angeles . Clary enjoyed working in film, after which he was signed to Selig and started a career as a film actor.

In the next 20 years, Charles Clary became a busy actor, mostly as the father of the leading actress or in the role of respected people such as lawyers or the military. In 1916 he played Le Tremouille in Cecil B. DeMille's period film Joan the Woman . In 1920, Clary starred as Dr. Ferris in the drama The Penalty on the side of Lon Chaney to see. In 1930 he had his last appearance in Kismet . The Internet Movie Database lists a total of 236 films with Clary's participation, mostly under the production of the Selig Polyscope Company and the Fine Arts Film Company. He also continued to work as a stage actor and appeared on Broadway, among others .

Charles Clary was married to Margaret Bechtel and had a son with her. He died on March 24, 1931 - his 58th birthday - after a four-year illness in his apartment in Los Angeles. Clary was buried in Lake View Cemetery in Seattle .
