Charles Dubost
Charles Joseph Marie Dubost (born May 18, 1905 in Moulins , † July 3, 1991 in Saint-Cloud ) was a French lawyer. He became known as the deputy chief prosecutor in the Nuremberg trial of the major war criminals of 1945/1946.
Life
After studying law, Dubost took up his profession as a lawyer in 1931. During the Second World War he was active in the Resistance .
In the summer of 1945 he became a member of the French delegation to the International Military Tribunal . In his trial against the main war criminals, a selection of leading figures of the Nazi state who were in Allied hands after the end of the Second World War were indicted. As one of the prosecutors, Dubost cross-examined numerous times during the trial. On July 29, 1946, he delivered the French closing argument against various defendants, such as Hermann Göring , Joachim von Ribbentrop , Fritz Sauckel and Ernst Kaltenbrunner .
