Charles Duvernoy (clarinetist)

Charles Duvernoy (* 1766 in Montbéliard ; † February 28, 1845 ) was a French clarinetist , music teacher and composer .

Like his brother Frédéric Duvernoy, Duvernoy became a member of the National Guard Chapel in 1790 . He later became professor of clarinet at the Conservatoire de Paris . For twenty-five years he played the clarinet in the orchestra of the Théâtre Feydeau .

In addition to numerous songs, Duvernoy's two clarinet sonatas and several concertos for clarinet and orchestra have come down to us. He was the father of the composer Henri Duvernoy , the singer Charles-François Duvernoy and the horn player Frédéric Duvernoy .
