Charles E. Kearns

Charles E. Kearns (* 1928 ; † 2000 ) was an American astronomer .

Kearns was a co-discoverer of the periodic comet 59P / Kearns-Kwee in 1963 at Mount Palomar . There he was Nightly Assistant . As early as 1957 he investigated the comet Mrkos (1957d). In 1961 he discovered two supernovae on recordings of Mount Palomar as part of research work for Fritz Zwicky .
