Charles Graux (politician)

Charles Alexandre Louis Graux (born January 4, 1837 in Brussels , † January 22, 1910 in Ixelles / Elsene ) was a Belgian lawyer and liberal politician .

biography

After attending school, he studied law and was after his promotion to the doctorate in law at first as a lawyer and later as a professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles worked. Graux was also a co-founder of the La Liberté and Ligue de l'Enseignement newspapers and editor of La Discussion .

He began his political career as a representative of the Liberals in the Chamber of Deputies . In June 1878 he was appointed Minister of Finance by Prime Minister Walthère Frère-Orban in his cabinet and was a member of this for six years until the end of Frère-Orban's term in June 1884.

For his political services he was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State on May 7, 1900 .
