Charles Kenny

Charles James Kenny (* 1970 ) is an American economist . He works at the Center for Global Development (CGD) and the New America Foundation .

Life

Kenny studied history at Peterhouse ( BA , 1993), then development research at the School of Oriental and African Studies ( MA , 1994) and international economics at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (MA, 1995). From 1996 to 2010 he worked in various departments of the World Bank . He has been working at the CGD and the New America Foundation since 2010.

Kenny has published extensively on the Millennium Development Goals , the relationship between economic growth , development research, health and happiness, the end of the population trap , the role of information technologies in development and the digital divide , and corruption .

He has also written or co-edited several books. His 2011 book Getting Better attracted particular attention .

Kenny is an editor at Foreign Policy and has contributed to many newspapers and magazines.
