Development research

Under development research is scientific study of the causes, aspects, characteristics and consequences of development and underdevelopment to understand. The knowledge gained from this is intended to contribute to an understanding of the problems of developing countries and their solution. Since development has numerous ( geographical , economic , political , social , cultural and ecological ) dimensions, development research should ideally be interdisciplinary . It extends across the university areas of economics ( development economics ), social sciences , cultural studies and natural sciences .

International umbrella organizations

There are several umbrella organizations for development research around the world:

• Europe: European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI)
• Latin America: Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO)
• Asia: Asian Political and International Studies Association (APISA)
• Africa: Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) and Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA)
• Arab countries: Arab Institutes and Centers for Economic and Social Development Research (AICARDES)

These associations together form the Inter-regional Coordinating Committee of Development Associations (ICCDA).

• Commission for Development Research - The Commission for Development Research was dissolved by the owner - the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research - at the end of 2018.
