Charles Levinson (* 1920 in Ottawa , † January 22, 1997 in Geneva ) was a Canadian author and trade unionist. From 1956 to 1964 he was vice-general secretary of the International Metalworkers 'Federation , and from 1964 to 1983 he was Secretary General of the International Chemical Workers' Federation , and later to accommodate the Mine Workers 'Union of the International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Unions (ICEM). He fought multinational corporations throughout his life . In 1969 he coordinated the first international strike against the Saint-Gobain company . He also predicted that trade with the East would make the West and the Eastern Bloc more unjust and more repressive.
