Charles Pelham, 8th Earl of Yarborough
Charles John Pelham, 8th Earl of Yarborough alias Abd al-Mateen (born November 5, 1963 ) is a British nobleman , politician and landowner.
Life
He is the eldest son of John Pelham, 7th Earl of Yarborough (1920–1991) and his wife Florence Anne Petronel Upton (1924–2013). From 1966 he led the courtesy title of Lord Worsley as the likely title heir to his father . He was educated at Eton College .
When his father died on March 21, 1991, he inherited his extensive estates and the title of Earl of Yarborough . A hereditary seat in the House of Lords was associated with the title . In Hansard two parliamentary speeches are recorded by him. He eventually lost his parliamentary seat through the reforms of the House of Lords Act 1999 .
He converted to Islam and took the name Abd al-Mateen . He was the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire from 2014 to 2015, the first Muslim in this office .
Marriage and offspring
He has been married to Anna-Karin Zecevic since 1990. He has three sons with her:
