Charles S. Roberts Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Charles S. Roberts Award (for insider short "Charlie" or "CSR") was a game award given from 1975 to 2002 in the USA for conflict simulation games ( Wargames : war games), magazines belonging to the genre and articles about this type of game. The award is named after Charles S. Roberts ( Father of Wargaming , founder of Avalon Hill ), who founded the genre of modern conflict simulation with his game Tactics, which was invented in 1952 and published in 1954 .

The Charles S. Roberts Award was given to war games, game magazines and articles on conflict simulations from one year in the summer of the following year. The first awards went to 1974 Games in 1975. Initially, the Charles S. Roberts Award was part of the Origins Awards . However, since 1988 (for the 1987 Games), the Charles S. Roberts Awards have been presented independently of the Origins Awards. Until 1999, the winners were presented at the Origins International Game Expo , founded in 1975 . From 2000 the prizes were awarded at the World Boardgaming Championships . The winners were usually announced at the beginning of June at the ConSimWorld Expo , which takes place in alternating US states. The prizes were awarded for the last time in 2012, the organizers declared that they wanted to withdraw for private and professional reasons, and successors who wanted to take over the organization could not be found.

Clausewitz Hall of Fame

In the Clausewitz Hall of Fame (Hall of Fame named after Carl von Clausewitz ) a person who has excelled in the field of conflict simulation was added every year.
