Charles Starrett (born March 28, 1903 in Athol , Massachusetts , † March 22, 1986 in Borrego Springs , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Starrett appeared in over 165 films between 1926 and 1952, in most of which he acted as the leading actor. He was best known for his participation in mostly inexpensive Westerns , his star role was the title character in the Western film series Durango Kid . Outside of the western genre, he played few notable roles, including the male hero role in the 1932 horror film The Mask of Fu-Manchu .
