Coordinates: 34 ° 53 ′  S , 138 ° 31 ′  E The City of Charles Sturt is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . Charles Sturt City is part of the metropolis of Adelaide , the capital of South Australia. The area is 52 km² and has about 112,000 inhabitants (2016).

Charles Sturt City is north of the River Torrens and northwest of the city center on the Saint Vincent Gulf. The area includes 39 neighborhoods: Albert Park, Allenby Gardens, Athol Park, Beverley, Bowden, Brompton, Cheltenham, Croydon, Devon Park, Findon, Flinders Park, Fulham Gardens, Grange, Hendon, Henley Beach, Henley Beach South, Hindmarsh, Kidman Park, Kilkenny, Ovingham, Pennington, Renown Park, Ridleyton, Rosewater, Royal Park, Seaton, Semaphore Park, Tennyson, Welland, West Beach, West Croydon, West Hindmarsh, West Lakes, West Lakes Shore, Woodville, Woodville North, Woodville Park , Woodville South and Woodville West. The administrative headquarters of the council is located in the Woodville district, where about 2000 residents live (2016).

Burnside City Council has 17 members. Sixteen councilors are elected by residents of the eight wards (two each from Semaphore Park, Grange, Henley, Woodville, West Woodville, Findon, Hindmarsh and Beverley Ward). These eight districts are defined independently of the city districts. The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the city.
