The River Torrens is a river near Adelaide in the Australian state of South Australia .
It flows from the Adelaide Hills across Adelaide into the Indian Ocean and is - except for a length of one kilometer in the city center for tourists - not navigable.
Like Lake Torrens, it was named after the Australian economist Robert Torrens .
