Charles W. Juels (born 1944 in New York City , † January 21, 2009 ) was an American amateur astronomer .

With 316 asteroids discovered between 1999 and 2009, it is one of the most successful asteroid hunters. He made his discoveries as a retired psychiatrist at the Fountain Hills Observatory in Arizona .

Juels and Paulo R. Holvorcem discovered comet C / 2002 Y1 together on December 28, 2002 with the help of their CCD camera . For this they received the Harvard-Smithsonian Comet Award 2003.

The asteroid (20135) Juels was named after him on March 9, 2001.
