Charlie Aldrich
Charlie "Walkin 'Talkin'" Aldrich (born June 3, 1921 in Bradley , Oklahoma , † January 25, 2015 ) was an American country musician , guitarist and composer .
Life
Childhood and youth
Charlie Aldrich is from Agawam , Oklahoma . During the Great Depression , he worked on his mother's farm, and with the money he saved he bought his first guitar in 1932 for $ 3.98. He learned to play the guitar from his mother. An early influence was the "singing cowboy" Gene Autry . In 1946 he was drafted into the Navy .
Career
After his discharge from the military, he made his first public appearance on CBS , where he got his own radio show, Oklahoma Roundup . After moving to California , he began working with popular swing musician Spade Cooley . In 1951 Aldrich had the breakthrough with the song Walkin 'the Guitar String . In the following years he got his own TV show, moderated three different radio shows and released records again and again. When the emerging rock 'n' roll displaced country music, things also calmed down around Aldrich until he completely withdrew from the music business.
