Charlie Bit My Finger - Again!

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charlie Bit My Finger - Again! is a 56 second web video showing one year old Charlie biting the finger of his three year old brother Harry. The older brother said repeatedly: "Charlie bit me" ( Charlie bit me ). The father of the English brothers, Howard Davies-Carr, uploaded the video to the internet video platform YouTube in May 2007 . At times it was the most viewed video there. By May 2014, the video had been played over 800 million times. The parodies and clones were also viewed frequently. For example, a parody of two teenagers who re-enacted the video and used the original soundtrack even achieved over 15 million clicks.

The video is an example of how web videos can inadvertently gain a lot of media attention and viral spread. The video is profane. Nonetheless, it brought media attention to the English family. In addition to various English-language media such as The Wall Street Journal , the Daily Mail , Time Magazine and the Daily Telegraph , German media such as Der Spiegel and Stern or RTL also reported on the video. For the Davies-Carr family, the video not only brought media coverage, which they also gave interviews, but also a financial income from a share in YouTube's advertising revenue. With that they financed a house.
