Charlie Cunningham (* in Bedfordshire ) is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist.

Life

Charlie Cunningham grew up in Bedfordshire and gained his first musical experience in punk , indie and hardcore bands. Initially influenced by experimental bands like Mogwai and Sigur Rós , he moved to Spain after college, where he worked in a hostel in Seville and learned to play flamenco during this time .

Back in England, he settled in Oxford and began to play in the pubs and bars around him. He played solo on acoustic guitar and released his first EP Outside Things in 2013 , which was followed by Breather in 2015 . Among other things, he played in the opening act for Rodriguez at the Royal Albert Hall , at the End of the Road Festival 2015 and at the Montreal Jazz Festival .

He was signed to the Swedish label Dumont Dumont in 2016 . His third EP, Heights , was released there in 2016 . His debut album Lines followed in 2017 . This won the “Album of the Year” award at the Pop Awards 2018 , presented by British Pop Magazine . The label also released a compilation of its EPs in 2019 .

His second album Permanent Way followed in 2019 on the BMG label .
