Charlie Lawson

Charles “Charlie” Lawson (* around 1900, † after 1930) was an American early jazz trombonist .

Live and act

Lawson played in the early 1920s in PB Langford's Oddfellows Band , and in 1924 in Charlie Creath's Jazz-O-Manicas , on whose recordings he participated in Okeh Records . At times Zutty Singleton is said to have belonged to Lawson's band. In 1924 he accompanied Bertha Henderson ("Discouraged Blues"); In 1926 he played in Chicago with the Apollo Syncopators of Leroy Pickett and Tiny Parham . In 1927 he was one of Louis Armstrong's Hot Six . From 1928 to 1930 he played in Parhams Band. Further recordings were made in October 1928 with Jimmy Wade and His Dixielanders. Lawson participated in six recording sessions between 1924 and 1928, as well as five additional studio dates in 1929 and 1930.
