Pyotr Yakovlevich Ufimtsev

Pyotr Jakowlewitsch Ufimzew ( Russian Пётр Яковлевич Уфимцев ; * 1931 in Ust-Tscharyschskaja Pristan ) is a Russian physicist . He is considered the father of stealth technology .

After studying physics at the University of Alma-Ata and the University of Odessa Ufimtsev received his doctorate in 1959th He became interested in the reflection of lasers and radar . His publications were translated into English and led to the development of the first Lockheed F-117 stealth aircraft in the 1970s . From 1973 Ufimzew worked at the Institute of Radio Technology and Electronics of the Academy of Sciences , in 1990 he was awarded the State Prize of the USSR .
