Charlie Parker Festival

The Charlie Parker Festival is since 1992 in two and later three days last weekend in August each year in New York City held-find jazz festival in honor of Charlie Parker . It has been organized by the non-profit City Parks Foundation since 2003 . It takes place in the neighborhoods Parker lived in ( Harlem , Marcus Garvey Park, and Lower East Side , Tompkins Square Park). Admission is free. The musicians are of international standing.

Geri Allen , Cassandra Wilson , Chico Hamilton , Robert Glasper , Donald Harrison , Randy Weston , Joe Lovano , Jason Moran , David Fathead Newman , Roy Haynes , Jeff Tain Watts , Frank Wess , Cedar Walton , Gary Bartz , Papo performed, among others Vázquez , Toots Thielemans , Kenny Garrett , Lee Konitz , René Marie and Sheila Jordan .
