Lady Charlotte Finch (née Fermor ; * 1725 ; † June 1813 ) was the governess of the children of George III. and Charlotte von Mecklenburg-Strelitz , King and Queen of Great Britain and Ireland. She was the daughter of Thomas Fermor, 1st Earl of Pomfret , and Henrietta Louisa Jeffreys.

Charlotte married on August 9, 1746 Hon. William Finch († 1766), son of Daniel Finch, 7th Earl of Winchilsea . They had four children together. She was appointed royal governess on the day her first protégé was born: George, Prince of Wales (later King George IV ). Shortly after her appointment, her husband began to change his mind about her position. Fearing for her safety, she left her husband and moved with her children to an apartment in St James's Palace and a small house in Kew .

The enthusiastic botanist Lady Charlotte held the office of governess of the royal children for over 30 years. Princess Amelia - who left Charlotte without a tutor when she resigned in November 1792 - was then raised to be her mother's companion.

She died in June 1813. Her memorial from Chantrey is in Holy Cross Church in Burley. The best known of their children was George Finch , who succeeded his uncle as 9th Earl of Winchilsea and 4th Earl of Nottingham in 1769 .
