Charlton Park House

Charlton Park House is a country house 2 miles northeast of Malmesbury in the English county of Wiltshire . English Heritage has listed the excellent example of a Jacobean house as a Grade I Historic Building.

The surrounding Charlton Park Estate has belonged to the Earls of Suffolk since the Reformation . It was land that used to belong to Malmesbury Abbey . The country house was completed in 1607 by order of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk , and his wife.

Charlton Park House

In 1975 the country house was converted into apartments. The current Earl, Michael Howard, 21st Earl of Suffolk , is the owner of the park and the surrounding agricultural land. Corporate events and the WOMAD Charlton Park Festival are held in the park .

The small village of Charlton is immediately east of the property. The municipality includes the village and the property.
