Chefe do Executivo de Macau

The Chefe do Executivo da Região Administrativa Especial de Macau da República Popular da China is the head of government of the Chinese Special Administrative Region Macau and sitting the Government of Macau before. He is also the top representative of the Special Administrative Region. The current official is Ho Iat Seng .

The Chefe do Executivo is not with universal suffrage in a direct-dial selected. Instead, the election is made by an election committee consisting of 400 members. Members are initially the 33 members of the Macau Legislative Assembly . In addition, the 20 members of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People taking part for Macau and the 7 members of the Macau National People's Congress are part of the election committee.

The remaining 350 members are elected through three functional constituencies . 120 members are elected in the constituency of the industrial, commercial and financial sectors, 115 members are elected in the cultural, educational and other professional sectors and another 115 members are elected in the labor, social service and religious sectors. In 2014, a total of 825 associations and organizations in all constituencies were eligible to vote - all legal entities eligible to vote are not natural persons . The government of the People's Republic of China under the Prime Minister carries out the official appointment of the Chefe do Executivo.

To successfully nominate yourself as a candidate, the signatures of 66 of the 400 electoral committee members, an age of 40 years and a residence in Macau for 20 years are the minimum requirements. The elections for the Chefe do Executivo take place every five years. A one-time re-election is possible. In contrast to Hong Kong, there is no indication in the Basic Law of Macau that the indirect voting process is to be replaced by direct election in the foreseeable future. This is due to the weaker position of the pro-democracy camp .
