Cherise Adams-Burnett

Cherise Adams-Burnett (* 1994 or 1995) is a British jazz singer and songwriter .

Live and act

Adams-Burnett was originally from Luton, Bedfordshire and began taking seriously music from the age of 16. She came into contact with the London jazz community through the educational organization Tomorrow's Warriors . She then studied at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music; after graduation, performed at the UK's most prestigious venues and festivals, from the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall to the Love Supreme Jazz Festival. Stylistically she combines soul and neo-soul with jazz singing. I.a. she has worked with artists and groups such as the Nu-Civilization Orchestra, Clare Teal , China Moses and Ashley Henry . She also belongs to the group Trope and in 2017 she released her first EP on the record label Jazz: Refreshed, Trope 5ive , for which she wrote lyrics. She also took part in recordings by Camilla George ( The People Could Fly , 2018) and the SEED Ensemble around Cassie Kinoshi ( Driftglass , 2019). In 2020 she was the winner of the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in the category Jazz Vocalist of the Year .
