China Moses
China Moses (born January 9, 1978 in Los Angeles ) is an American R&B and jazz singer and TV presenter. She lives in Paris .
Life
China Moses is the daughter of jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater and film and television director Gilbert Moses . In 1996 she released her first single on the French label Source, "Time", an R&B song in French for which the, v. a. Jean-Baptiste Mondino, known as a fashion photographer , shot a video clip. Her debut album China followed . In addition to recording two other albums of her own in 2000 and 2004, she also worked with Meshell Ndegeocello , Guru , Étienne de Crécy , DJ Mehdi , Diam’s . During an appearance as a background singer for Camille , she met jazz pianist Raphaël Lemonnier, with whom she developed a tribute to Dinah Washington , which was released as an album on Blue Note in 2009 under the title This One's for Dinah .
