Jean-Baptiste Mondino (born July 21, 1949 in Aubervilliers , France ) is a French photographer , graphic artist and video director .

Life

His career began as a graphic designer, later he became the art director of a well-known Parisian advertising agency . The self-taught photographer prefers to shoot rock groups, shoots music videos and makes recordings for the fashion and advertising industry.

Mondino is now considered a cult figure among young art directors and designers . His computer-processed images and video clips for artists such as Alain Bashung , Björk , David Bowie , Neneh Cherry , Les Rita Mitsouko , Madonna , Vanessa Paradis , Prince , Sting etc. are said to have shaped the world of images of the rock, pop and fashion scene in recent years . He says of himself: “ I'm not interested in ego, I'm interested in echo. ”(German:“ I'm not interested in self-portrayal, but rather in advertising. ”) The video created for Axel Bauer for the title Cargo was the first French-language video to be broadcast on MTV.

For the music video for The Boys of Summer by Don Henley , he was at the MTV Video Music Awards 1985 in the category Best Direction in a Video award.
